Things to consider:

Age of your lighting systems: Older lighting accounts for up to 50% of total building-wide energy costs. If your lighting is more than five years old, chances are you can benefit financially from upgrading it.

Your ballasts: The ballast is the heart of a powerful and energy-efficient lighting system, especially those that support an unrestricted range of lamp and control options. Upgrading your ballasts may be the single most significant thing you can do to earn yourself energy savings and the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct) tax savings.
